Monique Mackie
Special Counsel
LLB, BCom
I have over twenty years’ experience practising in the area of Trusts and Personal Asset Planning. Prior to specialising in this area of practice, I commenced my career in the tax team of a large New Zealand law firm and also worked in Sydney, Australia. This experience means I also bring an understanding of structuring and commercial considerations when advising clients.
I thoroughly enjoy this personal area of practice and building strong relationships with my clients – many of whom are intergenerational families. It is rewarding putting a comprehensive plan and documentation in place for clients knowing that their families and assets are safeguarded both now and into the future. I also pride myself on keeping up to date with legislative and practice changes in this area to ensure that my client’s affairs are structured as effectively as possible.
My experience is wide-ranging and includes:
• Advising on Personal Asset Planning structures
• Trust establishments
• Varying trust deeds
• Administering trusts - including documenting trustee changes, distributions, acquisition and disposal of assets, refinancing and resettlements.
• Wills
• Enduring Powers of Attorney
• Contracting Out / Relationship Property Agreements
• Separation Agreements
• Estate Administration
• Residential Care Subsidy applications
• Charitable Trust establishments and administration
I pride myself on being approachable, caring and professional while providing expert legal advice on such an important area of law for individuals and families.
